Risk,what does it have to do with food

Risk, and what does it have to do with food, anyway? The word risk implies uncertainty along with possible danger, injury, or loss. Risk can be physical,psychological,or monetary.
It is not the same as hazard, BUT RATHER A WAY OF JUDGING THE DEGREE OF HAZARD.
Two concepts are embodied in the term-both the magnitude of loss due to the occurrence of an undesirable event and the probability of its occurrence.

We tolerate varying degrees of risk depending on the situation. However, many of us believe that some areas in life ought to be risk-free, and for many, food is clearly one of these areas. It is disillusioning to face the reality that nothing is without risk and that-like it or not-food is included.

Risk of Choking

One documented risk associated with eating is the choking.
Each year in the United  States, nearly 3,000 deaths occur from choking, making this the sixth most frequent cause of accidental death.
Although consumers rarely contemplate their own voluntary starvation, most are subconsciously aware of the risk associated with not eating anything, and thus(perhaps unconsciously) forced into a risk-benefit decision between the risks of eating nothing and the risk of eating and then choking. Obviously, the decision is in favor of eating, as the benefit far outweighs the possible choking.
As with eating, every aspect of our lives involves risk-benefit decisions, conscious or not. Care must be exercised so that we have a clear understanding of how a certain action or position may put us at risk. on the stock market, the safest investment may actually be quite risky in the sense that yields are so low that they don't keep up with inflation.
In like manner with foods and other life decisions, the course of action appearing to be the least risky may indeed not be so.
People who avoid vegetables because of the possibility of certain pesticide residues may not get adequate numbers of fresh fruits and vegetables and, as a result, may increase their cancer risk for lack of cancer-preventing agents.
We must be cognizant that our attempts to avoid certain risks always introduce other ones. For instance, we may read about the risk incurred each time we ride in a car and therefore decide to stay at home.
while there are probably fewer risks encountered at home, it is clearly not risk-free.
In the United States, 200 electrocutions involving appliances and wiring occur annually in the home,and falls in the home result in 6,000 deaths annually.
Further, staying home prevents earning an income or going somewhere to meet friend sand family to have fun.
